Hens

Hens
Sadly there has been another outbreak of avian flu.  We are still able to rehome hens but the homes must adhere to the APHA/DEFRA guidelines.  In effect, this means ensuring that the birds are kept undercover at all times and there is no contact directly or indirectly with other chickens or birds.

We are immensely proud to say that we have been able to rehome hundreds of ex-layers that would have otherwise been sent to slaughter. The more hens we rehome the more hens we can save. They may look a little dishevelled at first, but with a bit of sunlight, good food and a safe environment they quickly start to look like proper hens again.

Hens make particularly good companions for children. From the basic DIY involved in setting up a coup to the gentle patience it takes to earn the hens trust, these sweet little animals encourage the development of a multitude of skills. Each chicken has its own very unique personality which will really start to shine through once they are settled in a safe and loving environment.

If you are interested in adopting some of our ex-layer hens please click on the link below to fill out the application form and we will be in touch as soon as possible to organise a quick home check.
