Ren’s Rescue is a charming, small, local charity that has been running since 2014. Our mission is to provide shelter to animals in need when they have nowhere else to turn.
Since Ren’s began we have successfully rehomed hundreds of animals to loving families. We offer sanctuary to a multitude of species including cats, dogs, chickens, rabbits, hedgehogs, pigs and many more. We take in animals found by the public, abused ex-farm animals, referrals from local vets, and even some from other rescue centres who can no longer cope. We also take in orphaned, terminally ill, and ‘badly behaved’ animals that nobody else wants. Most of the animals we take in would have sadly been killed if we didn’t save them – so we really are their last resort. Even if we decide that an animal cannot be appropriately rehomed they will have a forever home with us.
We have 0 paid staff and are run 100% by volunteers, who work simply for the love of animals.

Adopting ex-layer hens from Ren’s Rescue was so rewarding. They came strait from the farm to the rescue in the morning and we picked them up in the afternoon. My family enjoyed working together to help hens get over life on an egg farm. Volunteering has been even more rewarding and I love seeing what a massive difference it makes to the animals and the rescue.
The animals at Rens have been rescued from some horrific and heartbreaking situations and through volunteering, we can make such a huge difference to the animals lives. The best part about volunteering is getting to interact with the rescues, understanding, experiencing and getting to know their individual personalities is such a joyous experience.
We originally bought George the 230 miles home, as a foster. Prepared to find him the best forever home, he found it with us! We became failed fosters and adopted George within a matter of days. Pamela has supported us no end with George and still shares our ups and downs with him. Feels like we adopted a part of a new family in Rens Rescue. We happily donate and fundraise when we can to continue supporting the rescue in the amazing daily care that they give all their animals.
After being diagnosed with a mental illness, I felt like a completely useless member of society. It was only when I started volunteering at Ren’s that I began to regain my confidence and meet some wonderful people and animals along the way.
